Designer Board Games
Designer board games, so named both to indicate a high degree of quality and because the designer's name is often featured on the box, have been popular in Europe for many years, but have experienced a recent surge in the United States through "gateway" games like Carcassonne and The Settlers of Catan (sometimes called the "Monopoly killer").
